Human moral systems
Although every human society
has its own and individual law like its individual culture there
exist important commonalities which reflect the evolutionary
roots of all human moral systems: group selection. Applying
this explanatory framework to the analysis of law
systems always reveals two separate functions of law: 1) Law
being a special part of culture to uphold social cohesion by
defining the cultural minimum behavioral criteria. 2) Law
defining the behavioral rules for the common good of the
group as a function of the prevailing economic conditions,
especially market integration and cooperation in production.
Here we can also see clearly the link between law and
economy.
